Linda Dennison has served independent schools for 25+ years in various employment, consulting, and volunteer capacities. She is currently the Interim Chief Financial Officer for Walnut Hill School for the Arts. She has previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for  Glenelg Country School in Ellicott City, MD, as the Director of Finance and Comptroller for Phillips Academy, in Andover, MA, and as the Deputy Head of School and Chief Financial Officer for Indian Creek School in Crownsville, MD.

Linda has an extensive range of experience from aligning business office procedures with mission, culture, and strategy; to complex, strategic financial transactions including acquisitions, mergers, debt strategy, endowment transactions, and governance facilitation and training.

Linda also worked as the Director, Consulting Services for the National Business Officer’s Association (NBOA) where her primary responsibilities included mentoring new business office personnel, leading consulting assignments in leadership, governance, financial modeling, school sustainability, and operational effectiveness; developing and writing best practice standards for school business operations, and presenting at regional and national conferences for independent school professionals. 

Throughout her career, Linda has served on several nonprofit boards in various leadership positions within those Boards. She is currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the National Business Officers Association. Her previous appointments include Tabor Academy, Summit Montessori School, and the Association of College Counselors of Independent Schools. She served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Summit Montessori School and as a Committee Chair for Tabor Academy. 

Linda is a graduate of Tabor Academy, has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern Maine, a M.S. in Education from Johns Hopkins University, is a CPA, and is an ACC certified coach. Linda is a 2019 recipient of NBOA’s Will J. Hancock Unsung Hero Award for her service to Indian Creek School.
