Lisa Carbone Warren, MBA

Active CFO, Moorestown Friends School (NJ)

Lisa Carbone Warren recently retired from her role as Director of Finance and Operations at Moorestown Friends School, a PS-12 independent school in southern New Jersey. Lisa was hired by MFS in 1989 and oversaw the growing complexity of the business office, as well as independent schools in general, addressing new and emerging needs as economic challenges, trends in regulatory compliance and a changing political landscape that have reshaped the value proposition of many independent schools.

As Head of School Julia de la Torre recently stated in an address to the school community, “There is no aspect of the school’s operations that has not been impacted by Lisa’s leadership over the years”. In the area of school finance, Lisa has overseen the school budget growth from $3.7 million to a current budget of nearly $20 million and an endowment also totaling over $20 million.

As administrative liaison to the MFS Assets (Finance) Committee and the Property Committee, Lisa has worked closely with a number of trustees over the years and collaborates regularly with the School Committee. She has been a key MFS representative on dozens of construction and campus improvement projects, property acquisitions and a comprehensive Campus Site Master Plan. She has served on numerous ad hoc and strategic planning committees that helped guide campus and program development and growth.

Outside of the immediate school community, Lisa has proudly represented MFS as a longstanding board member and clerk of several professional association boards and an original member of both PAISBOA (Philadelphia Area Independent School Business Officers Association) and NBOA (National Business Officers Association). She was a proud recipient of the NBOA Will J. Hancock Unsung Hero Award in 2017.

Prior to MFS Lisa was the Controller at Lewis, Gilman Golin/Harris in Philadelphia, a public relations subsidiary of Foote, Cone & Belding. There she supervised the accounting department, human resource department and office staff personnel. She was the senior person in charge of financial accounting with emphasis on budgetary control and cost accounting. Lisa also held the position of Business Manager at Franklin Academy where she was in charge of student billing, accounts payable, payroll and financial aid. She earned her accounting degree from St. Joseph University in Philadelphia and her Masters in Business Administration from Rutgers University
